INTRODUCTION

VMware ESX provides dynamic control over the amount of physical memory allocated to each virtual machine and resource pool. Memory may be overcommitted, so that the total size configured for all running VMs may exceed the total amount of available physical memory. The system manages the allocation of memory to VMs automatically based on allocation parameters and system load.

DESCRIPTION

Starting with ESX Server 3.0, most previous command-line controls for resource management are no longer available. Resource management controls are supported from both the UI and SDK. For more information, please refer to the official documentation, available online at <http://www.vmware.com/support/pubs/resource_management/vi_pubs_res_mgmt.html>
