INTRODUCTION
VMware ESX provides dynamic control over the relative amount of disk
bandwidth allocated to each virtual machine (VM). The control of disk
bandwidth is done separately for each disk. The system manages the
allocation of disk bandwidth to VMs automatically based on allocation
parameters and system load. This is done in a way that maintains fairness
and tries to maximize throughput.
DESCRIPTION
Starting with ESX Server 3.0, most previous Service Console command-line controls
for disk management are no longer available. Disk management controls are
supported from both the administration UI and the SDK. For more information,
please refer to the official documentation, available online at
<http://www.vmware.com/support/pubs/resource_management/vi_pubs_res_mgmt.html>
